Description
Rock Creek is a long time locals favorite canyon. It is unique amongst Sierra Canyons in that it runs North to South and this gives it great skiing snow and conditions. This loop takes one deep into the mountains high under the big peaks of the Sierra Crest. A good day’s outing, but not one that burn you up or take a dawn to day venture. Sheer pleasure!
This PDF is 6 pages long. It includes a map with the line of the route, a description of the route with some photographs, several waypoints to hit and suggestions on how to play the day.
Also included is a GPX track. Use this to help find you way but do not be a slave to the “blue dot.” The GPX track is not an exact route to follow and doing so might get you into trouble in variable snow conditions. It is simply there to help you ensure you are in the right neighborhood. Look up and around and develop your navigational skills.
